Stained Glass Repair / Refurbishment

The process of repair is often long and tedious - the object at all times must be to preserve as much of the original character, and glass as possible!

The panel is measured, photographed, and a 'brass' rubbing taken before each piece of glass is removed from the panel, and cleaned of paint and cement.

Missing or broken glass is replaced, and the panel assembled in the same way as a commissioned piece.

Repair and refurbishment can take a lot of time, and this is reflected in the price; but as a rule of thumb the work will cost around £90 per square foot, plus materials; but rest assured, as with a commissioned piece, work will NOT start until the cost has been agreed!

This photograph shows one of two early 1900's panels damaged by intruders!

The householder was keen to maintain the look of the property, but was understandably concerned about security.

The solution was straightforward - the panels were mounted with toughened glass on the outside, maintaining the internal appearance of the 1895 property, and achieving a measure of external security!

The photgraph below shows both panels back in place.

       . . . . . . . Absolutely superb !
