Mrs Darley's Healing Wisdom

A Magical Journey of Healing through the Senses

When we become ill we search for a cure, but a cure only suppresses the symptoms of disorder; it fails to address the underlying cause. When we search for healing, we are encouraged to look beyond the symptom, in order to explore the emotional, psychological and spiritual imbalances, which underpin the illness.

Following several periods of less than robust health, whilst living on the wild and remote Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, my enigmatic next door neighbour, the ever wise Mrs Darley, invited me to embark on a journey of healing through the five senses of touch, smell, taste, hearing and sight. It was a journey that not only made me view life and death in a different way, but also altered the way in which I interacted with my body. It ultimately became a magical journey that changed my career and touched my soul.

5 Star Review from Amazon

'For me, having read the other three books in the series, this one is my favourite. I have to admit that I have an interest in complementary health, but regardless of that fact this book is a gem.
It has certainly made me appreciate the five senses I was lucky enough to be born with and to realise how each one can be a medium through which we can heal. The author also explores the nature of illness and the subtle energy bodies, but refreshingly points out that at some point we all have to shed our mortal coil and that the death of the physical body can often be the ultimate healer.
Throughout it all is the enigmatic and almost addictive character of Mrs Darley, who I feel is becoming more forceful with our trainee author as she progresses with her magical training. Mrs Darley often makes comments to the author which makes the reader go 'ouch' and yet her timeless wisdom always serves a deeper purpose.
I would recommend this book to those interested in healing, their own or a loved one's health, Pagan topics, a love of Cornwall or those just looking for a wise friend as this they will certainly find in Mrs Darley

Pagan Federation North East Review

'I was recently sent a copy of “Mrs Darley's Pagan Healing Wisdom”, the book is written by Carole Carlton, and is the fourth book in the “Mrs Darley” series. Anyone looking at the cover and title of this book would be forgiven for thinking that they were looking at a spell book of healing rituals, but as the back cover explains...
“When we become ill we search for a cure, but a cure only suppresses the symptoms of disorder; it fails to address the underlying cause. When we search for healing, we are encouraged to look beyond the symptom, in order to explore the emotional, psychological and spiritual imbalances which underpin the illness.

It ultimately became a magickal journey that changed Carole's career and touched her soul.”
The main body of this book contains information, history and references to how the human body responds to the way it interacts with it's surroundings. How these things can manifest into physical and psychological aliments, and what can be done to prevent and address these things if they do cause ill affects.
Usually books like this are fairly textbook-ish, and not the sort of thing you would sit down with on a Sunday afternoon with a pot of tea. However, the way the book has been structured means that all the factual and evidential information is peppered with “Mrs Darley Tale” segments. These anecdotal, diary-type stories not only make this book a much more enjoyable read, but also put the information you've absorbed into an everyday context, making it easier to relate to and put into practice.
After reading this book I would have no hesitation in recommending it to my Pagan friends who are interested in healing work. I would also list it as a good read for anyone, regardless of spiritual affiliation, who is interested in alternative therapies, or is currently studying or working in the fields of holistic therapies or homeopathy.'

Review from 'Goodreads'

'I am a keen fan of Mrs Darley anyway, but I felt in this book that she really came into her own. She just puts things over in such an easily understandable way and as a result allowed me to experience those light bulb moments when everything becomes clear.
The book looks at how to use the 5 senses as a healing tool and I particularly enjoyed the chapters on smell and sound - fascinating stuff and throughout it all it has that magical quality. Loved it.'
