Who is Mrs Darley ?

The light of the moon shone intermittently in the November sky as I sank beside the roaring fire in Mrs Darley's cottage. "Listen," she whispered and pointed towards the window. "Whenever the wind blows from the east and the wind chimes dance in the moonlight, there is magic in the air."

Those words were magical to me then and still remain so as they became my invitation to step into the void and begin to explore my own spirituality within the confines of an ancient Cornish landscape.
Upon moving to Cornwall in 1991, I became bewitched by its enchanting timeless beauty, which captured my heart and holds me still. Brooding and mysterious, the south-eastern edge of Bodmin Moor provided the wild backdrop against which the introduction to my magical training and love of nature began. It was here, through the often bizarre, yet strangely compelling guidance of Mrs Darley, that I began to experience my own connection to the universe and the forces of nature. I became aware of the existance and polarity of a Divine female and male presence both within the landscape and within myself.

Mrs Darley was a delightfully eloquent yet mysterious lady of a certain age, whom I was lucky enough to have as my Cornish next door neighbour and, along with a selection of her enlightening yet often eccentric friends, taught me about life, love and magic , opening new vistas of awareness within which I could come to know myself.

The Mrs Darley series of books, follow my journey of self discovery, whilst uncovering the myth legend, history and science behind many fascinating subjects.

OCTOBER 2017

October brings us not only an interesting night sky, but also calls us to celebrate one of the most important Pagan festivals.
On the 5th, the full Wine Moon lights our skies - the Moon thought to be blessed by the gods, whilst the 19th heralds the birth of the new Blood Moon, when the gods were asked to strengthen the blood of the tribe before the winter closed in.
The Orionids meteor shower makes for a night time treat on the 21st, as approximately 20 meteors per hour could be visible in the south east after midnight.
On Saturday 29th, our clocks fall backwards as summertime comes to an end and dark evenings once again close in.
On 31st, the Pagan festival of Samhain marks the end of the old Celtic Year, bids a final goodbye to summer and honours those who have walked the Earth plane before us.
As we enter the cauldron of closings, may we give thanks for the year that is past and for those who once shared our lives, lay to rest that which no longer serves and finally emerge refreshed, to welcome in the new.
