April 2026

The month of April begins with the Christian festival of Easter, which is calculated on the first full moon following the Spring Equinox, making Easter Sunday the 5th. This is of course another festival that is drenched in Pagan folklore which explains why we have an Easter egg and an Easter bunny. (See ‘Mrs Darley’s Pagan Whispers’ for a complete explanation).

The Seed Moon waxes full on the 2nd, whilst the new Sap moon is born on the 17th.

This month, Venus finally takes on her role as the Evening Star and Jupiter is visible all night until mid month when it too becomes visible in the evenings only.

Between the 22nd and the 23rd the Lyrid meteor shower peaks, which can be seen all night and in almost all directions.
