The month of May begins with the beautiful festival of Beltane, one of the great Celtic Fire festivals. This was a time when the Celts welcomed in the summer as the animals were driven out to pasture.

The Sap Moon waxes full on the 1st, whilst the new Dyad moon is born on the 16th. The Dyad moon also waxes full on the last day of May, bringing us the rare event of a what is popularly known as a blue moon (although this isn’t the correct definition) See ‘Mrs Darley’s Moon Mysteries’ for the mystery and folklore associated with a blue moon.

This month, Venus remains as the beautiful Evening Star, reaching its highest point in the sky. Jupiter is also visible in the evening.

The Eta Aquarids meteor shower peaks between the 6th and 7th.

As the natural world begins to blossom and bloom, so too may your lives.
