October 2026

The month of October brings us one of the most feared and revered of all the old festivals – that of Samhain on the 31st.

This is the time when the Goddess withdraws her hand from the earth and the land falls into decay and rest.

It was, for the Celts, a time that marked the end of summer and the beginning of winter, the end of the old year and the beginning of the new and a time when the ancestors were remembered and honoured.

In the heavens the Blood Moon is born on the 10th and waxes full on the 26th.

This month, Mars and Jupiter can be seen in the morning sky, and Saturn can be seen all night.

The Draconids meteor shower peaks between the 9th and 10th and is visible all night long , whilst the Orionids peak between the 21st and 22nd and is best viewed before dawn.

May the season of Samhain bring you a quiet time of inner reflection and remembrance.

Blessed Be.
