Understanding Reiki

Reiki was introduced as a healing modality around 1922 by Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese Tendai Buddhist, and has since spread around the world.

Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive hands-on healing technique for use on the self and others. It utilises the universal life force energy to bring about healing on the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual levels. It is, however, much more than a healing tool, and can also be used to encourage personal and spiritual awareness and growth.

The word ‘Reiki’ divides into two parts:

‘Rei’ – Literally translates as the ‘wisdom and knowledge of all the universe’. The word ‘Rei’ acknowledges that there is a Higher Intelligence which guides the creation and function of all that is. This Higher Intelligence is all knowing and understands the underlying problems of all living things, whilst holding the key to their healing solutions.

‘Ki’ – Literally translates as ‘life force energy’ and is the energy which flows through all living things.

Combined, ‘Reiki’ simply translates as ‘Universal life force energy’

 
I have been a Reiki Master/Teacher since 2004 and have taught in many parts of the UK, the Middle and Far East. My courses are accredited by the UK Reiki Federation and, following completion of Reiki First Degree, you will be eligible to join the Fereation as an associate member. Should you choose to continue to Reiki Second Degree you will able to upgrade to a full member and, if you then wish to set up a practice you can avail of their block insurance scheme.
All Reiki Courses are held in the beautiful riverside town of Bewdley in Worcestershire and include a comprehensive manual and refreshments on all course days (please note lunch is not included).
 

The Reiki Courses

Reiki First Degree

Reiki First Degree  will introduce you to:

  • What Reiki is
  • Where Reiki originated
  • What Reiki can do
  • How to give and use Reiki on the self and others

This is achieved via group discussion, hands on practice and 4 individual attunements.

Reiki first degree will enable you to:

  • Use Reiki energy for self healing
  • Use Reiki energy to help family and friends
  • Develop both personal and spiritual growth

Duration:  2 Days – 10am – 4 / 4.30pm
Cost:        £250 to include all materials and refreshments
Venue:     Bewdley Worcestershire
Dates:      Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15 January 2026. 1 place available
Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26 February 2026. 3 places available

Please note:

  • Places on each course are limited to 4 to ensure personal attention and to ensure that your Reiki experience is a special one.
  • Since the covid years, I am asking all students to supply their own towels for this course, to ensure that everyone is protected as far as possible from any infection.

You will need: 5 Bath sheets (or 3 fleecy blankets, or a mixture of both) and 2 bath towels.

Reiki Second Degree

Reiki second degree will introduce you to:

  • Distance Healing and treatments

  • The use of sacred symbols

This is achieved via group discussion, practical application and 2 individual attunements.

Second degree Reiki will enable you to:

  • Deepen and increase the flow of Reiki energy
  • Enhance Reiki through the use of sacred symbols
  • Carry out a distance healing treatment
  • Send Reiki to both individuals and global situations
  • Further assist you with self healing, personal and spiritual growth.
  • Practice Reiki professionally on others (Please note you must have held Reiki First Degree for 12 months and insurance must be arranged)

Duration: 2 Days. Day 1 – 9am – 12noon. Day 2 – 9am – 5/5.30pm

Reiki Third (Master) Degree

Third (Master) degree Reiki is the most profound and life changing of all the Reiki degrees. It is a path that you must be sure you want to tread before making the commitment to be attuned at this level. Please note: some preliminary work is required.

Third (Master) degree Reiki will enable you to:

  • Deepen and increase the flow of Reiki energy
  • Further enhance Reiki through the use of the Master sacred symbol
  • Enhance your Reiki treatments through advanced Reiki techniques
  • Further assist you with self healing, personal and spiritual growth.
  • Use the title of Reiki Master

Duration: 1 Day – 10am – 4 / 4.30pm
Cost: £225 to include all materials and refreshments

Reiki Third (Master/Teacher) Degree

Third (Master/ Teacher) degree Reiki is about learning how to pass your Reiki skill onto others at all levels and attuning them to this precious gift of the universe. It also explores useful teaching techniques. Please Note: You will be expected to know all four symbols before attending this course.

Third (Master/Teacher) degree Reiki will enable you to:

  • Attune others to Reiki, from First Degree to Reiki Third Degree (Master Teacher)
  • Further assist you with self healing, personal and spiritual growth.
  • Use the title of Reiki Master/Teacher

Duration: Two Days: 10am – 4.30pm.                  
Cost: £450 to include all materials and refreshments
